I was out to breakfast. As I was waiting for my order, a corner table caught my eye. I began to concentrate on the Corner Table. I thought of the thousands of people that must have sat there enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner. In my mind, I heard them having various conversations. I wondered what stories the Corner Table could tell me if it could only talk. I wanted to know, to hear those stories. I concentrated even more on the Corner Table. The Corner Table began to rearrange as I gazed and concentrated on it. It seemed to come alive in my mind and it grew colorful. It grew distorted in parts, upside down in others. The ceiling was now the floor and the floor became the ceiling with a life of its own. The condiments on the table floated, upside down. I was having fun with the experience when the waiter returned with my order and broke my concentration. As soon as I got home, I sketched what I had seen of the Corner Table and its transformation.
This happened when I intentionally triggered an episode of vertigo. |
